Green beans anyone?

So here I am on my way to North Carolina for my fiancé's work trip. We just stopped for a quick dinner and I will say that eating out is always interesting especially when trying to make good choices. I won't say the name of the restaurant because I would feel bad and I also enjoy this restaurant. I was very happy with my meal, however; I was entertained by my fiancé's. He ordered a burger with his choice of two "healthy" sides. The rice pilaf was great but the green beans were doused in butter..he couldn't even eat them because their flavor wa completely gone. Aside from the butter, there was too much salt and he couldn't enjoy them. For anyone who knows me, I can never have enough salt it seems but even in this case it was too much.

Yesterday we went out for brunch at a very popular joint in ATL. Thinking I made a smart choice I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, mushrooms, and peppers. The words egg white basically are equivalent to healthy and I even asked for them to hold the cheese. What did I end up with? A soggy omelet with grease pouring out. I don't know why restaurants feel the need to add so much oil and butter..it ruins the taste. I won't deny that I am a health freak but the sight of this omelet would turn away people who aren't very health conscious. I was bummed because I gave it a few sympathy bites but honestly didn't taste any flavor besides oil.

I will say that there are many restaurants that can perfect these foods and not all places leave me feeling unsatisfied. I am excited to start blogging about great meals I've experienced out and great ordering techniques to leave a happy camper. There are many great ways to order out but those will come later :)
